Fire-killed Fir
Fire-killed old-growth coastal Douglas-fir trees that succumbed to a forest fire in 2022. The trees were not razed or destroyed by the fire; they perished quickly and remained stoutly standing, bark charred. They released a significant percentage of their moisture in an unusually rapid fashion; they are not fully dried, but partially green, with an internal MC of around 40%. In 2025, for safety, standing dead trees along forest service roads and trails were responsibly harvested . We have acquired a decent number of these trees, 26’ to 41’ in length and 27" to 35+" in diameter. Available for custom milling; they yield excellent material.
