Fire-killed Fir

Fire-killed old-growth coastal Douglas-fir trees that succumbed to a forest fire in 2022. The trees were not razed or destroyed by the fire; they perished quickly and remained stoutly standing, bark charred. They released a significant percentage of their moisture in an unusually rapid fashion; they are not fully dried, but partially green, with an internal MC of around 30-40%. Because they were standing, there is minimal bug activity in these logs, though we still get the occasional log with bug holes. In 2025, for safety, standing dead trees along forest service roads and trails were responsibly harvested . We have acquired a decent number of these trees, 26’ to 41’ in length and 27" to 35+" in diameter. Available for custom milling; they yield excellent material.
